By chris, on December 23, 2003, at 3:48 pm I went ahead and gave the web site a little bit of a Christmas treatment… and to show my holiday spirit I even temporarily suspended my private war against pages that move, blink, flash, or play cheesy midi music to make the online version of our Christmas card.
By Chris, on December 23, 2003, at 3:40 pm I was a little too sad to post this sooner, but on Sunday we brought Tori to her new family. I think I may have mentioned that we were having trouble getting a handle on the issues between her and the cats, and we just felt it would be best for everyone to find her a more suitable (i.e. no cats) home. A very nice couple contacted us last week after seeing her on the Second Time Around Aussie Rescue site we listed her with, and came to visit her yesterday. They just lost their 13 1/2 year old Aussie to kidney failure and were as perfect a home as we could have asked for. Tori will have a huge house and yard to play in, and their six and a half year old son as a buddy.
Saturday night as we gathered up Tori’s favorite toys and her Christmas stocking it was kind of sad but also such a good feeling to know that we found her a far better home than we could provide, and even though she didn’t work into our family we at least got her out of the animal control facility and helped her on her way to her ‘real’ home. I even thought “maybe someday when circumstances are better we could do some fostering…” but after leaving her with her new family Sunday morning, me sobbing like crazy, I am not so sure I am cut out for that. Even knowing she was going to a great home it still ripped my heart out.
I took a picture of them all together before we left and Tori looks like she is smiling.
By Chris, on December 11, 2003, at 11:18 am A man and his son drowned Monday night after the son tried to drown their dog…
Having a hard time feeling any sympathy here. Sounds like a couple of nominees for this year’s Darwin Awards.
By Chris, on December 10, 2003, at 10:09 am All afternoon yesterday at work we kept hearing lots and lots of police sirens. The communications building is in a complex that also houses a police station and the city vehicle’s maintenance center, so we are kind of used to hearing sirens throughout the day, and no one really paid it any attention. If we had we would have seen the police chase that went right past us. Twice.
By chris, on December 8, 2003, at 4:35 pm I just discovered that the firewall that was blocking access to my ISP from work has unblocked it. I can once again get at my mail, and my web site. Cool. Maybe this will lead to more frequent site updates.
