Finding Balance

It started off pretty good

This weekend we rented Gothika. We haven’t been watching a lot of movies lately and the last two we watched before this were really good movies, the kind that make you think. Gothika, on the other hand, is better appreciated if you don’t think too hard about it. Some very creepy scenes, but it got a bit ridiculous towards the end. About halfway through you could see exactly where it was going and I thought “this must be a red herring, it’s way too obvious” but no, it really was that obvious. Worth the rental price, but it would have been a disappointment to pay full price at the theatre.

Mojo meets another Bull Terrier

Today Mojo got to meet another Bully for the first time since the Silverwood show. One of the customers at the pet supply store Joy works at had come by and brought his male with him. He’s always wanted to see Mojo, so Joy had me bring him down. I wish I had thought to bring the camera and take pictures.

OK, so I knew Mojo had gotten rather large… but wow! The other dog was a four year old tricolor, about 48-50 lbs. and on the ‘terrier’ side, with a much less extreme head profile. In short, he was what I had hoped Mojo would grow into, except for the color. The size difference was incredible — he looked like a Miniature Bull Terrier next to Mojo. I am pretty sure Mojo must be up to around 70 lbs. now, and he’s only just turned a year old. He appears to be following in the footsteps of a few of his 75 lb. ancestors.

The tri was a hyper, dog-friendly boy and very happy to see Mojo. After realizing that he had met a dog who was just as excited as he was to meet another dog, Mojo had a pretty good time sniffing and bouncing around. It was the highlight of his day…and I only had the tiniest twinge of jealousy as I hefted dinosaur-boy back into the car and watched the other dog leave…

Site Maintenance

Critterweb.com may be down for a day or two while we get the domain name transferred to our new web host. In the meantime the site can still be reached as http://users3.ev1.net/~wolfspider but that will be going away permanently as soon as the new domain is fully functional.

Now we know it is really spring…

Spring has officially arrived: Joy has her first chigger bite.

I have been wandering the yard barefoot for weeks, sitting in the grass, weeding, even rolling around in it wrestling with the dogs. Joy came outside Saturday and sat with me in the yard for about ten minutes and woke up the next day with a chigger bite. Apparently they just really like her.

At least it is just the one bite, not like last year.

Busy, busy

It might be noticable that the posts have been a bit sparse again. I’ve been working hard on getting all the materials together for the Bull Terrier Compulsive Tail Chasing study and am still working on getting the rest of the web site for Bull Terrier Neurological Disorders resources. The study info is up there already now. Hopefully, getting the information to as many folks in the BT world as possible will help with getting more participation in the study. As soon as we have the money Mojo’s survey and blood sample are going in.

In other areas, it has been real busy at work and last week I had a wretched week, felt like for every problem I solved I created two more. This week has been better, thankfully. I’m also trying (again) to buckle down and study for my Cisco CCNA exam. The web site is still way overdue for a massive overhaul, which I’m hoping to get to soon. At least we are finally pretty much settled from the move!
