Finding Balance

Useful information

I watch the news every morning before work, partly to be aware of any issues that may affect me for the coming day. This morning the TV was buzzing with news and images of last night’s storm, which kept most of north Texas under a tornado watch for yesterday evening, produced tennis ball sized hail, 85 mile an hour winds, and an as-yet unconfirmed tornado. They also mentioned some of the traffic delays and damage that had been caused that would affect morning commuters. I think it is great that the radio and TV stations stay on top of reporting every possible incident that might be a problem on the Interstates and highways, but it would be nice if they would also maybe keep everyone abreast of issues that might affect those of us who commute through the regular street system. Oh, you know, maybe little details like EVERY TRAFFIC LIGHT IN NORTHEAST DALLAS IS OUT. That would have been some useful information. If I’d been prepared for an hour and a half ride instead of 20 minutes I might not have gulped that second cup of coffee just before I left for work.
